Obituary

Murray died on March 20, 2020 at Heath Sciences North following a brief illness. Murray leaves behind his wife Susan, daughters Heather (Jeremy), Andrea (Chris), Laura (David), and Gillian (James), stepsons Ron (Amanda) and Aaron (Lynn) and sister Sheila (Leon). He was Grandfather Sir to 11 grandchildren: Logan, Cael, Reid, Lily, Sam, Abby, Gwynevere, Aiden, Anderson, Morgan and Madalynn who all thought the world of him. Murray was most happy at work. Be it at the office, in the garden, at home or at the condo, he celebrated each completed project with a glass of wine (or two). He worked tirelessly throughout his life on multiple boards and charities to make a better life for Northerners. He was honest, fun to be around and always truthful. It was often said that he was not your typical lawyer. All who loved him will miss him greatly. A service of remembrance will be held at the Church of the Epiphany when permitted.

Heather, Andrea, Laura and Gillian....my condolences to you all. Your dad made me laugh on so many occasions, especially seeing him garden in his dress shirt, shorts, rubber boots and of course, tie for a belt. Such a kind man. Thinking of your families during this difficult time and hope the many fond memories of him provide you with comfort.

To the Scott Family, our very sincere condolences. I had the privilege and pleasure of serving with Murray for many years on the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund board for many years. Through that time we became friends and I developed an immense respect and admiration for Murray’s warm, intelligent and respectful character. He was a strong advocate for Sudbury and Northern Ontario. Rest In Peace my friend.

My dear friend Sue I was so saddened to hear this news. I was so very happy to see how Murray adored you and as you did him. We didn't spend a lot of time together but I considered Murray a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of sadness. Love Louise

Heather, Laura, Andrea, Gillian and Susan, so sorry to hear about your loss. Our loss really. Murray was a great man. Smart, funny, witty, self depracating and always with good advice. Sometimes the good advice only cost a lunch. He was a great Rotarian. He was always first to the creek and last to leave on duck dash day. He always had an idea how we could do "it" better and then set about to do "it". Murray, I will miss you a lot. You are an excellent Rotarian, lawyer, father and friend. Goodbye my friend.

A "pillar"of the family (both ) and community is profoundly affected by this untimely and premature decease of a fine, ethical, pleasant man who was a good son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him, and am certain he will have the sleep of the just through eternity.
