Obituary

In Loving Memory of Lawrence “Lorne” Anderson 97 years Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Villa. Beloved husband of Anne Anderson (nee Elliott). Loving father of Sheila Fryer (Terry) and Eric Anderson (Donna). Cherished grandfather of Sara, Joel, Julia (Rob), and Britany, and great-grandchild Anders. Dear son of Louis and Sina (nee Erickson) Anderson both predeceased. Loving brother of Frank, William, Clarence, Axsel, Randall, Clifford, and Lillian, all predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Lorne was an active part of the Sudbury community. He was a member of St. Stephens United Church, the Rotary Club, Masons, sang in the Northern Echo's Choir and delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76. Lorne and Anne were married for 69 years. They surrounded themselves relatives and friends who were welcome to drop by to enjoy a glass of wine and to share a good joke. Lorne and Anne spent 54 years at his most cherished place, his camp at ELSA Bay in Parry Sound. Lorne loved nature and was an avid gardener. He could often be found whistling bird calls on a walk, catching minnows, picking worms for fishing or tickling the paws of unsuspecting dogs. His curiosity for life never ended and he did not tire of hearing a great story. It was a life well lived. A special Thank You to the staff of St. Joseph's Villa, Sunnyside, for the wonderful care during Lorne's stay. A Celebration of life will be held in the R. J. Barnard Chapel. Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Saturday, August 8th, 2020 at 1pm. (Friends may call after 12:30pm Saturday). In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Stephen’s on the Hill United Church would be appreciated. For donations and messages of condolence, www.lougheed.org.

So very sad to hear about Mr. Anderson's passing. I knew him mostly through business and curling. My very first game I was a spare called in to play lead with Lorne, my dad and Mr. Birchell on the Davey-Mei team in the industrial league. A great man, very nice family to remember to remember. Gone but not forgotten.

Mary and I offer our condolences to Lorne's family on the loss of their loved one. The Northern Echoes will always remember Lorne, who with his chum Don Paul brought so much joy and laughter and celebration of song to our choir. He was a friend to all, When the choir entertained at the Arena on Remembrance day, Lorne marched with the veterans and current members of the Armed Forces and cadets. We were so proud of him as one of the World War 2 heroes and a beloved Canadian. He loved life, song, family, friends and country, We salute you Lorne!

Dear Mrs. Anderson and Family: Lorne sat at my Mother's table and I so enjoyed his company at meal time. He was such a sweet soul and had a smile on his face all the time. I will miss hearing him say "Holy Pickerel" On Rememberance Day I thanked him for his service in World War Two so that my sons did not have to see War. He said it was a pleasure to serve his country and he was happy to. God bless you and may he give the family strength in the days ahead. I will miss you, my dear sweet friend.
