McKenzie, L. Joyce (Salo)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of another great lady. Joyce,well known among the Figure Skating Community of Northern Ontario (Sports Hall of Fame inductee) as well as her connection to a certain “Christmas character” namely her dad, Wilfred H. Salo. From Long Lake to Sheguinda to Lively, her sense of humility, humour and dedication to the sport she loved, imprinted itself in all of her endevours and on the people who’s lives she crossed. No regrets. Leave it all on the ice. Daughter of Wilfred; Nelli Salo (née Pernu) predeceased. Loving wife of A. Norm McKenzie (predeceased) her personal hero. Survived by children Scott, Glen (friend Sue), Dean and Laurie (née Armstrong), Holly and Gary. Grandchildren Miranda, Jordan (fiancee Kara), and Taylor. Thanks go out to all the emergency dept. team and the tireless staff of the 5th floor Cardiac ICU. Your dedication and caring does not go unnoticed by those who’s lives you’ve touched. Sadly missed by friends and family. Cremation at Parklawn Crematorium, no services, no flowers, donations to the local food bank.
