In Loving Memory of Norvel John O’Connor It is with profound sadness the family announces his peaceful passing on February 16th, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at Health Sciences North in his “90th” year. He is now re-united with his beloved wife Marilyn predeceased (March 2016) and his youngest son Michael predeceased (June 2011). Devoted father of Cathy Pigeon (Stephen) of Barrie, Laurie De Benedet (Dennis) of Garson, Bill (Julia Moon) of Toronto and daughter-in-law Dr. Patricia Lechten of Ivy, Ontario. Cherished and very special Poppa of Travis, Jessica, Sarah (Chris), Ryan (Rebecca), and Benjamin (Erica). He will also be very much missed by his furry friend Sadie. Predeceased by his parents William and Henrietta (Hattie) O’Connor. Predeceased by his brother Lloyd and sister-in-law Anne, sister Helen and brother-in-law Jimmy and sister Margaret and brother-in-law Romeo. Norvel (Nubby as he was known) was born on November 7th, 1930 in Webbwood, Ontario and proud of it. Nubby worked several small jobs until hired by Canadian Pacific Railway as a Locomotive Engineer. He retired in 1991 after serving 41 years. Nubby will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Nubby’s 5 grandchildren meant the world to him and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. He especially loved and never missed his grandsons Travis and Ben’s hockey games over the years. Nubby had an incredible memory up until the end and was told by many that he should “write a book” about Sudbury. He was an exceptionally caring man to everyone. A sincere thank you to neighbors Marcel and Laura Beaudry for their constant care given to our Father. St. Patrick’s Day was always a special day for Nubby and all his chums (Irish or not)! Nubby’s Catholic faith was very important to him. Memorial Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Garson on Friday, February 28th, 2020 at 1:00pm. Cremation with entombment in the Civic Mausoleum Cemetery. In liew of flowers, donations can be made to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.
