Peter retired as Captain from the City of Greater Sudbury Fire Services in 2015 after a devastating cancer diagnosis. Determined to fight courageously until the very end, our hero is now at rest and peace. It is with profound sadness that we announce Peter’s passing on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was the youngest of four, born in 1956 to Arthur (predeceased) and Theresa (Muldoon) St. Denis. He was most proud of his two boys Callum and Eric, and always played an active role in their lives. He was the best and most patient husband to Sandra (Hiebert) whom he often jokingly introduced as “his first wife”. He will be greatly missed by his siblings Brent (Martine), Marion (Bob) and Paul (Kim) as well as his parents-in-law Aurel and Anne (Martin/Hiebert) Methe and their children Penny (Edward), Pierre (Janet), Kevin (Angie), and Donald (Roxanne). Peter had many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, and was extremely proud of the fact that his youngest great-nephew shares his name. Peter will also be missed by “Fierce Pierce”, their Pomeranian puppy with whom he loved to share snacks and treats. Peter will be remembered for his keen sense of humour and his knack of teasing others. He was always helpful to friends and neighbours and was known to have just about every gadget, tool or odds and ends that would one day come in handy or be useful to someone. During his illness, Peter received amazing care from medical professionals too numerous to mention from Health Sciences North, the Northeast Cancer Centre, the LHIN, Bayshore, Shared Care, Wal-Mart South End Pharmacy and Herman’s Pharmacy. In his final days, he and his family were blessed to be part of the Maison McCulloch Hospice family. We will always be grateful for this. You are invited to Peter’s Celebration of Life on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Holiday Inn (Solarium) located at 1696 Regent Street, Sudbury, beginning at noon. A private interment will take place at the Civic Memorial Cemetery Sudbury at a later date. Donations can be made directly “in memory of Peter” to the Maison McCulloch Hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd. Online condolences can be posted at www.RangersSudbury.com
