In loving memory of William Alfred Brown, 93 years, who passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Extendicare York, Sudbury. Survived by his wife of 67 years, Maureen Brown (nee Lowney). Loving father of Michael (Robin Goard and her children Carolyn and Rachel Goard), Cathy Bellingham (David), Jim (Paula Zanella), Nancy Whissell (Mark), and Patrick (Annette Miller and children Aaron and Vanessa Miller). Brother-in-law to Patrick Lowney (Helen Prociuk predeceased), Donald Lowney (Jacqueline) and Jack Lowney, both predeceased. Cherished grandfather of Ashley (Mike Robbins) and Breanne Bellingham, Ryan and Alexandra (predeceased) Whissell, Joshua Brown, Kayleigh and Teagen Brown, and great grandchildren Lauren and Levi Robbins. Born and raised in St. Thomas and London, Bill was a talented baseball player who played for the all national London Tigers as a teenager. He was recruited to the Sudbury area by INCO in the 1940's to play catcher for the Frood Tigers and Copper Cliff Redmen, and was a volunteer coach and umpire for minor baseball. He was a long time member of the Lively/Waters Lions Club. Bill retired from the Copper Cliff Copper Refinery in 1983 after 35 years of service. Bill enjoyed curling, golf and bridge over the years, and yes he loved to dance to the big band music. In later years he and his wife enjoyed traveling with family/friends to various destinations across Canada, the United States and Ireland. Bill was a quiet listener but loved to have family and friends around. Social gatherings were special. Respecting Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Copper Cliff on Friday, December 13th at 11:00. Friends may gather in the basement of the church to greet the family immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SRH Pet Scan or MRI fund would be appreciated.
