In Loving Memory Of Maria (nee Meandro) Fiorino 95 years Wednesday, August 21st, 2019 at Extendicare York, Sudbury. Born is Dipignano, Cosenza, Italy, November 23rd, 1923 she married Pasquale in 1946 coming to Canada in 1953. Beloved wife of Pasquale (predeceased 2005). Loving mother of Nella Kirk (husband Fred predeceased), Luigi (wife Maria) and Franco (wife Lina). Cherished Nonna of George (wife Jenny), Franz (wife Martha) Anna-Lisa (husband Paul), Cara, Dana, James, Sara, and Mia and great-grandchildren James, Thomas and Benjamin. Loving sister of Salvatore, Giovanni, Eugenio, Antonio, Giuseppe, Luigi and Vincenzo all predeceased, she is survived by her sisters-in-law Valentina Fiorino and Adelina Fiorino. Sadly missed by loving nieces and nephews. A selfless and generous lady who put others before herself she was always there for her family and friends whether it be a needed hand or a kind word. She was a great source of strength, comfort and guidance. Maria had a unique and optimistic view of life, which helped her overcome adversity with grace and humour. She taught us the value of family, honour, honesty and respect for others. A hard and diligent worker, she ingrained this work ethic in her children. A hospitable lady whose door was open to everyone and always at the ready to put on that pot of coffee and prepare a meal. An excellent cook, she prepared the most delicious meals with the simplest of ingredients. Her grandchildren savoured her homemade gnocchi and lasagna. Maria enjoyed embroidery and creating small sewing projects. The light of her life was her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She took great delight and pride in their accomplishments. A lady of great faith, with devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and San Francesco di Paola.
