Roland “Rolly” Proulx September 22, 1930 – May 31, 2019. The family announces with profound sorrow the passing of Roland Proulx. Following an unfortunate and tragic fall, Rolly passed peacefully at Health Sciences North with his loving and devoted children by his side. Predeceased by the love of his life and devoted wife of 61 years Pauline (Landry) and their daughter Suzanne. He is survived by his loving children D’Arcy (Sharon), Michel (Caroline) and Claire (Jacques). Grandfather to André (Anna), David (Jessica), Gilbert (Crystal), Julie (Dylan), Véronique (Céleste), Jeremy, and Cassidy. Great-grandfather to Tristan, Félix, Kylin and Darwyn. Rolly was born in Timmins to the late Adéodat and Léonie Proulx. He was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, René (Marcella Credger), Blanche (George Balkwill), Yolande (Bert Last) and Denise (Gérard Demers). Also left to mourn are his sisters-in-law from the Landry family and his numerous nieces and nephews. Rolly worked 17 years as a private investigator for the Retail Credit Company until he found his niche working for the government of Canada. He retired in 1995 as the manager of Human Resources Development Canada for the Sudbury Region. Rolly was passionate about gardening, hunting, fishing and sports. He excelled at coaching his Doran’s 7 Ups pee-wee hockey team in the 70s. Unfortunately, he didn’t see his beloved Raptors win the championship. Rolly also enjoyed and was quite lucky with sport lotteries, betting on harness racing and playing the slots. The family will receive relatives and friends at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Friday July 19th, 2019 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the R.J Barnard Chapel.
