William John Hayes aged 91 passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North Sudbury on March 19, 2019. Bill was born in Arthur Township, Wellington County, Ontario on September 6, 1927 the son of William and Anna (Costello) Hayes both deceased. Beloved husband of Françoise Hayes (nee Gaudette) predeceased April 20, 2018. Dear brother of Lambert (Mary), Frank, Madeleine Goetz (Bill), Angela, Shirley, Michael (Helen), all deceased. Survived by his brother Jim (Joyce) and sister in law Thelma. Special brother in law to Rejeanne Danis and brother in law Normand (Sharron) Gaudette. Bill was cherished by many nieces and nephews who will always remember him as the fun uncle who loved to see kids having a good time. Bill worked for Carter Bus Lines in the 1950’s before joining Falconbridge Nickel Mines where he worked for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. Bill and Francoise also owned and operated the store in Skead for 15 years and were well known by all the residents of Skead during that time. For many years Bill enjoyed his camp on the North River where he and Françoise shared good times with friends and relatives boating, fishing and snowmobiling. Bill had been an active member and volunteer of the Skead Seniors Club, a former volunteer fire fighter and a faithful parishioner of St. Bernadine of Siena Church. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch St., Sudbury (Friends may call 2-5pm; 7-9pm Friday) Funeral Mass in St. Bernadine of Sienna Church, Skead Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 at 11am Interment in the family plot at St. John’s Cemetery, Garson.
