The family of Harry Wilks are sad to announce his peaceful passing at the age of 93 on January 15, 2018 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Georgette (nee Henry) predeceased 2009. Loving father of Harry Jr. (Linda) of Falconbridge and Ethel Taylor (Don) of Lively. Cherished grandfather of Christopher (Andrea), Matthew (Jessie), Trevor (Michelle) and Pamela and great grandfather of Camden, Connor, Karma, Cavin, Jerrica, Tyson, Dylan, Anthony, Jake, Chase, Cassandra and Damien. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Ethel Wilks and his brothers and sisters. Born in England, Harry arrived in Canada at the age of 3. Along with his parents and siblings he settled in Huntsville, Ontario. During the Second World War, Harry served with the First Special Service Force also known as the Devils Brigade, an elite U.S. – Canada commando unit. He was recently acknowledged with the replica of a Congressional Gold Metal and the Bronze Star. Harry worked as a miner for Inco. His years of retirement exceeded the many years he worked as a miner which he was very proud of. Donations to the Food Bank in his memory would be appreciated. Entombment of ashes will take place on Wednesday, January 24th, 2018 at the Civic Mausoleum at 1pm. Friends and family are welcome. (Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home)
