Anna Karin Verdonk (November 7, 1938 – July 16, 2017) It is with heavy hearts that her family announces the passing of Anna Karin Verdonk (Juchem) on July 16, 2017 at the age of 78. With family by her side she slipped away peacefully after a short illness and now rests in the memory of Jehovah God. Predeceased by her spouse Joseph Verdonk, her son Gregor (wife Lorelie), and her grandson Joseph. Survived by her daughter, Gabriella. Loving Oma to Gregory and Alicia, Deidre, and Jessica (Damian). Daughter of Weinand Juchem and Gertrude Bergmoser (Linden), both predeceased. Sister to Benedikt, Manfred, and Renate. Predeceased by her sister Marianne. Tanta to Uta, Gregor, Daniel, Dennis, Florian, and Marco. Anna (Karin to many) lived an eventful life that took her to many places around the world. Born in Cologne (Koln), West Germany at a turbulent time in history, she experienced many challenges at a very young age. Food and shelter were a novelty during the war, so Anna learned quickly how to make much of very little. From an early age she was very industrious and hard-working, taking on numerous positions to help support her family. She was a flight attendant, industrial labourer, customer service rep, baker, and wife and mom. In 1968, her family moved to Northern Ontario, where her home became Val Caron, Ontario. A love-hate relationship was shared with various animals that wandered around the backyard; racoons, bears, skunks, porcupines, ground hogs, rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels. Birds were various and numerous. She fed them all and chased them with her camera. Anna was known for her hospitality, her love of horticulture, an exceptionally clean home and yard, vegetable and flower gardens, picking blueberries and making bread. It was something closer to her heart that interested Anna - the knowledge of Jehovah God, his word the Bible, and his love and purpose for mankind. Anna looked forward to a world promised by God to be free of the sufferings we experience today (Rev 21:3-4; John 5:28-30). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Watchtower Society and the Mason McCulloch Hospice. (Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home)
