Formerly of Sudbury, passed away at his home in Garden Grove California on Sunday May 7th, 2017 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of Patricia Orr Charette. Dear son of the late Edmond (Ti-Blanc) Charette & of the late Blanche ( née Jean). Loving father of Debbie and Bobby. Very dear brother of the late Florent Charette and Lucille Turenne Charette, Roland (deceased) wife Henriette Charlebois (Charette) of McCrae Heights, of Yvette Tarnopolsky husband Eugene Tarnopolsky (deceased) and of Laurier Charette (wife Yvette) .Fern leaves behind a multitude of nieces and nephews who will surely miss his winning smile and his friendly ways. The two qualities which define Fern were his perseverance and his caring for family members and friends. He had the reputation of being an excellent electrician, a trade that he loved. He was a bonafide member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for a period of 65 years. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to whoever was in need of his skill, and, not only was he ready to help someone he barely knew, but he was also extremely caring for the members of his family; he just didn’t know how to say “no”. Fern was passionate about his work; he was also enthused about his leisure time activities; at one point, at the beginning of his retirement years, one of his friends introduced him to the fun of metal detecting. And for years to come, one could always see Fern in the wee hours of the morning, searching in the sands of the California beaches for lost items. And, as long as his health permitted, Fern enjoyed this favourite pastime. On May 9th, 2017, a funeral mass was celebrated at St. Polycarpe Church in the City of Garden Grove , presided by Reverend Father Michael St. Paul of the same parish.
