Hatzis, Areti 'Rita' (Vlahotsimtsiris)

In Loving Memory of Areti (Rita) (nee Vlahotsimtsiris) Hatzis April 29th, 1926 – September 19th, 2016 Rita passed away peacefully at Pioneer Manor; 90 years old. She was born and raised in the village of Agia Soteria, Greece. She was the daughter of Giorgio and Panigiota. Predeceased siblings: Soultana, Yannis, Victoria and Pavlos. Beloved wife of Paul Hatzis predeceased 2005. Loving mother of Fredericki (Vicki) (Chris Kontonikolas), Lelouda (Debbie) (Manthos Penteris) and Yannis (John) Hatzis (Tina Stamos). Cherished Yiayia of Katherine (Guiseppe Marchello), Joanna (Keith St. Onge), Paula (Peter Panaritis), Christina Penteris (predeceased), Maria Penteris, Paul Hatzis (Samantha Simoneau), Chris Hatzis and Diana (Brennon Millett) and great grandmother (Babou Yiayia) to Jessica, Justin, Nathan, Ioannis, Aliyah, Michael, Taylor, Melina, Kallista-Jayne, Victoria, Alexander, Jacob, Kaileb, Yiannis and Kalliope. Rita married Paul in 1946 in Greece, and came to Sudbury in 1959, where she owned and worked at Lockerby Confectionary with her husband, until retirement in 1987. Rita was an active member of the Sudbury Hellenic Ladies Association and the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and a resident at the Pioneer Manor for the last 5 years. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call 2-4; 6-8 P.M. Wednesday with prayers at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday) Funeral Service in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 486 Ester Road, Sudbury Thursday, September 22nd, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Interment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
