It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Helen Roy (Frances Helen) at the age of 81 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, on Friday, July 22nd, 2016. Predeceased by her husband Andre “Andy” Roy (2013). Loving mother of Janice (Rick Lashuk), John, and Danny (Roberta-Jeanne Zadow-Roy). Cherished grandmother of Heather and Amanda Lashuk, Michael and Julianna Roy, Niklas (fiancée Samantha Robbins), Austin, and Riley Roy, and great grandmother of Crystal. Dear daughter of Francis Clark and Maisie Fetterley (Jim Fetterley) all predeceased. Dear sister of Dorothy (Dot) Jewell (predeceased), Nancy Link (John), David (Audrey predeceased), and Alan (Janet). Dear sister-in-law of Flo Hagger (Maurice Menard predeceased) and Robert Roy (Sheila predeceased). Helen was raised in Copper Cliff. She worked at Union Gas as a secretary in the sales department and retired in 1995. She then enjoyed spending her winters in Florida with Andy. She loved to knit dish cloths and play bingo. She was a charter member of the Minnow Lake Lioness Club and the Central Mavericks Retirees Group of Union Gas. She was a lifelong member of Knox Presbyterian Church. Thank you to Dr. P. Cano, Suzanne, Dr. K. Richardson, Dr. Chiang, Dr. Sami, the doctors and staff on the 4th floor HSN and the Cancer Centre for their excellent care. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, (Friends may call Tuesday from 2-5 and 7-9pm). Funeral Service in Knox Presbyterian Church, 73 Larch Street, Sudbury, Wednesday, July 27th, 2016 at 11am. Cremation with interment in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Donations to Knox Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or the Northern Cancer Foundation.
