Faulkner-Desbiens, Louise 'Nanny Lou'

Louise Faulkner-Desbiens (Nanny Lou), 70, of Sudbury, passed away October 1, 2019, at Health Sciences North, with her family by her side. Louise was born to the late Clovis and Patricia Faulkner, October 23, 1948 in Sudbury. Louise was a compassionate personal support worker at Extendicare York until she retired in 2009. She often volunteered giving palliative care to the unaccompanied. Louise and her loving husband René Desbiens of thirty years lived in Sudbury. She is survived by her three sons Steve, Patrick, and Yanik Lafrenière as well as her four stepchildren Daniel (Angele), Normand, Alain (Denise), and Chantal Desbiens. She is remembered with love by her grandchildren Stephanie, Megan, Maxine, Briane, Claudia, Renée, Julia, Michelle, and her great-grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings Alex (Judy) Faulkner, Linda Faulkner, Richard (Clemence) Faulkner, Jim (Patsy) Faulkner, Helen (John) Maginnis, Lise (Phil) Hadlow, Monica (Garfield) Hodgins, Dan Faulkner, Mark Faulkner, and Len Faulkner. As well, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews, in-laws, ex in-laws, cousins and many good friends, including her dog Maggy-May. Louise’s family was the most important part of her life. She was a dedicated mother even before she had children of her own. A devoted Catholic, who always advocated for the less fortunate. Louise was also a basketball fan, who loved music and life. Lou was resilient. As her health declined, she often repeated the quote “this too shall pass”. It was a blessing when her granddaughter Claudia relocated to Sudbury last year, bringing Louise immediate joy. The family would like to thank Dr. Tracy Hayes, Dr. Heather Boudreau and the staff at Heath Sciences North, with a special mention to ER nurse Jennifer Hadlow, for their outstanding care. We love you Lou. A service will be held at Saint Patrick’s Church on October 5th, 2019, at 1 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the following would be appreciated: Health Sciences North Foundation and the Canadian Mental Health Association of Sudbury. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd. Online condolences can be posted at www.RangersSudbury.com
