The family announces with great sorrow the unanticipated passing of Nancy Manninen (78) on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Health Sciences North. Born in Toronto on December 19, 1940 to parents Hilma Lahtinen and Matti Rasmus, devoted wife to Mervin, loving mother to Lisa, and cherished grandmother to Joey-Dean and Dylan Lanthier. You could often find Nancy and Mervin chasing the sun and visiting friends in the south as they shared a love for travelling. She introduced Joey, her eldest grandson, to bowling and spent countless hours teaching him and playing at the alleys, at home, and attended his competitions. Nancy was a dedicated hockey fan who routinely braved the cold to cheer on Dylan at his games. She throughly enjoyed knitting, painting and crafting which she would often gift to family and friends. Later in life, Nancy cherished feeding bickies to the neighbourhood dogs, watching the birds at her backyard feeders and learning about animals on the Discovery Channel. Nancy was always ready for a lively game of cribbage or euchre and when she had a moment to herself you could find her playing electronic handheld card games, doing crossword puzzles and caring for her husband. A life that touches others goes on forever; we will always carry her memory in our hearts. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and invite you to honour Nancy’s life by making a donation to the charity of your choice. When friends gather… hearts warm. She wished not to have a service but instead a celebration of life. Drop by on Saturday, October, 12, 2019 at Lisa’s house between 2:00pm - 6:00pm.
