In loving memory of Violet Babcock, 100 years, on Thursday, September 19th, 2019 at Extendicare York, Sudbury. Beloved wife of Lorne Babcock (predeceased 1995). Loving mother of Myrna Lovil (husband Jim of Texas, both predeceased), Lynn Latreille (Jim Latreille predeceased), and Lorie Lavallee (Luc Lavallee). Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Kim Kalviainen (Esko Kalviainen), Jenny and Matt (Sara) Latreille; great-grandchildren David Kalviainen (Tina), Erik Kalviainen (Amanie), Adam Kalviainen (Sabrina), and Jamie Latreille; great-great grandchildren Tariq, Zayn, Noor, Sofia, Lola (predeceased), Samantha, and Mike. Dear daughter of Lewis and Edith Mansell (predeceased). Loved by her sister Myrtle “Tooey” Lytle of Winnipeg. Predeceased by her sister Ivy Kyle of Fort Francis and brothers Frank (Miami), George and Walter (B.C.), and Charlie Mansell (Winnipeg). Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews in B.C., Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario. Violet grew up in Miami, Manitoba, which always held a special place in her heart. She met and married Lorne Babcock in 1937. Lorne joined the RCAF during the war and took his family east, settling in Sudbury in 1945. Both were dedicated to their family, to their church, and later to the Mended Hearts Assoc. Violet (nicknamed “Wimpy” by her brother Walter “Mink”) will be remembered by family and friends as a generous soul with a fabulous sense of humour and a “forever young” attitude. Violet spent her final years under the exceptional care of the staff of Extendicare York in Sudbury. Donations to the Salvation Army or Infant Food Bank would be appreciated. Funeral Service in the R. J. Barnard Chapel Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury Wednesday, September 25th, 2019 at 2pm.
