It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mauri Henry Makynen of Sudbury on September 1st, 2019 at the age of 86. Born on August 14th, 1933 to his parent’s Sam and Jenny (nee Olli) Makynen both predeceased. Dear brother of Mirja Maki (husband Earl predeceased), Mauno Makynen (wife Arlene), Marged Leduc (husband Tim) both predeceased and Mertsi Makynen predeceased. Sadly missed by his nieces Karen Maki Dupret (husband Chris), Jennifer Robotham (husband Matthew) and Jessica Leduc-Van Allen (husband David) and his great nephew and nieces Oliver, Lily and Avalina. Mauri will also be fondly remembered by many dear friends and extended family for whom we wish to thank for their incredible care and kindness. The family would also like to thank all the staff at Extendicare Falconbridge and particularly the 4th floor for their amazing care and compassion. Mauri enjoyed his home, garage, sauna and dune buggy. He was curious about everything and really enjoyed the challenge of fixing things, particularly computers and electronics. He also loved nature, music, collecting and travelling. He was truly adventurous, tenacious, kind and incredibly independent. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 12th, 2019 from 1-4pm at the Little Wanup Chapel, 4273 Hwy 537, Wanup. Donations in memory of Mauri can be made to Wild At Heart Wildlife Refuge Centre (705-692-4478 or www.wahrefugecentre.org) Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
