In Loving Memory of Susan Levina Johnston (nee Sturgess) 73 years Peacefully, Sunday, August 18th, 2019 at Health Sciences North with loving family at her side. Beloved spouse of Barry Belzile predeceased. Loving mother of Robert Johnston (wife Alida) and Jennifer Lister (husband William). Cherished Nana of Andrew, David, Mathew, Amanda (D.J.), Billy (Erica), Michael (Gill), Breeanna (Dylon), and great-grandchildren Davin, Jayce, Landen, and Easton. Special grandmother to Christopher (wife Amelia) and great grandchildren Taylia and Korah. Dear daughter of Frank and Doris (Heywood) Sturgess both predeceased. Dear sister of Sandy Dudley (husband Robert) and Sharon D’Orazio (husband Louie predeceased). Sadly missed by loving nephews, nieces, and friends. Susan was involved in many, many organizations as a dedicated volunteer. She was a Guide Leader, Brownie Leader, was on the Advisory Board of St. Alban’s Church, taught Sunday School, was the head of the Pastoral Visiting Team, a reader at church, assisted with lunch each Sunday at church, looked after food donations, was an original Board Member of VEYC, was involved for 27 years with the longest-running Youth Centre in Ontario, was a volunteer for Warm Hearts Palliative Care for 22 years, collected hats and mittens for the VE Food Bank, was a foster parent for many years, and sang in community choirs. Susan often travelled to Cuba, where she has many friends and championed humanitarian projects. Resting at the Lougheed Funeral Home, Hanmer/Capreol Chapel 4601 Michelle Drive, Hanmer (Friends may call 2-4; 7-9pm Thursday only). Funeral Service in St. Alban the Martyr Church Capreol Friday, August 23rd, 2019 at 11am. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
