In Loving Memory of John (Ivan) Plotycia 99 years Peacefully Friday August 9th, 2019 at Health Science North with loving family at his side. Beloved husband of Katherine (Iwanczuk) Plotycia. Loving father of Michael, Myron (wife Ewa) and Bohdan “Bob” (wife Jill). Cherished Dido of Lesia (Darrin), Christopher (Ashley), Daniel and Markian and great grandchildren Nash, Grace, Ayla and Parker. Dear son of Michael and Ann (Czopko) Plotycia predeceased. Sadly missed by relatives and friends in the Ukraine. Born in Western Ukraine John immigrated to Canada after WWII with many other Eastern Europeans. He settled in Sudbury in 1949 marrying his wife in 1950. He had been a mechanic at INCO retiring in 1984 with 36 years service. A proud Canadian John also was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage actively participating in Ukrainian clubs and cultural celebrations. He had been a faithful member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was a founding member and builder of Camp Bilahorza in Hagar Ontario and a long time member of the Ukrainian Cultural Centre. His green thumb produced bountiful vegetables and he was an accomplished home handyman. John will be remembered for his inspired work ethic and devotion to his loving family. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch St., (Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday with Panakhyda 7 p.m. Sunday) Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church 40 Notre Dame Ave.,Sudbury Monday, August 12th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Interment in the Family plot at Civic Cemetery In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
