In Loving Memory of Giuseppe (Peppino) Carlo Ciccone 96 years young Dec. 21, 1922 – July 16, 2019 Passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North (Sudbury) surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Carlo and Angiolina (Silvestri) of Pacentro, Italy. Beloved husband of Amalia (Cercone) predeceased in 2011. Devoted father of Angela and Rosaria Ciccone and Carla Knutson (Bob). Cherished nonno of Matthew Knutson (Michelle) and David Knutson (Meagan). Treasured bisnonno of Nathan, Arielle, and baby Amalia. Brother of Maria (Donato) both predeceased, Carolina (Francesco) both predeceased, Alberto (predeceased), wife Rosaria, Rosina (Pietro) both predeceased, Sabatino (predeceased), wife Angela, young Amalia and infant twin siblings (all predeceased). Survived by brother-in-law Attilio (Maria predeceased). Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, relatives abroad, friends, neighbours, and goddaughter. Giuseppe proudly served as an Alpini in the Italian Military forces during WW2. In 1947, he married the love of his life, Amalia. He worked in Venezuela for a few years while his wife cared for their 2 young daughters. Seeking a better life for his family, he immigrated to Canada in 1952 settling in Gatchell. His wife and 2 daughters followed in 1953 and soon after, their third daughter was born. Giuseppe took great pride in his workmanship as a bricklayer and mason often sharing his skills with young workers. His passion was building fireplaces in the area. His strong work ethics was passed on to his family. As a proud Italian, he enjoyed playing bocce and making wine, pasta, prosciutto, and sausages along with other cultural delights. The harvest from his annual garden and plum trees was often shared with family, friends and neighbours. In his younger years, he was a member of the Holy Name Society and church usher. He volunteered his bricklaying skills when St. Anthony’s Church was first built. In his later years, he took up woodworking and was a proud member of the Cavalieri della Patria. Giuseppe was humble, caring and loving putting his family and faith first. His jovial smile and teasing nature will be remembered by many.
