In loving memory of Brian Riutta, 66 years, who passed peacefully July 4, 2019 at the Maison McCulloch Hospice following a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Colleen (O'Bumsawin). Dear father of Taylor, Chris (Erinn), Erin (Joey) and Gin (Nathan) and cherished grandfather of Jamieson and Jessa. Dear son of Uuno and Virginia Riutta, both predeceased. Dearest brother of Florida (Alf), Bill predeceased (Marg). Dear son-in-law of Bernard and Bernice. Brother-in-law of Lynda (John), Sharon (Don) and Pamela. Nephew of Liz (Con). Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Brian enjoyed a 36-year career with Inco and Vale. He was a man of many talents and interests; carving and leather work, stained glass, photography, gardening and genealogy. Brian enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing and hunting with Mike Smith and Ross Elliot. He spent many happy summers on Manitoulin Island. Brian held dear the many special friends he had an opportunity to make through his carving. Brian was grateful for the kindness and support of his family, neighbours, colleagues, and close friends, especially Dave James (Pierrette), Bert Morrison and Maria Teddy. He received exceptional care from Dr. Cano and the Northern Cancer Centre, as well from Lyne, his Bayshore nurse, and the staff of the Maison McCulloch Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be greatly appreciated. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 11th from 5:00PM – 8:00PM at the Holiday Inn, 1696 Regent Street, Sudbury. Light refreshments will be served.
