Gone to spend eternity with the God he served so faithfully, Father Jack David (August 19, 1933-June 29, 2019) Priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie. Son of the late Joseph and Dorothy David. Beloved brother of the late Lorraine Fera (late Ernie), Patricia Caron (late Bert) of Sudbury, Brian David (Suzanne) of Toronto, Lois David of North Bay, and Rochelle Majerczak (late Stefan) of Sault Ste. Marie. Dear Uncle Father Jack to numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Father Jack was ordained at Blessed Sacrament Church on June 1, 1958. In his 61 years of priestly ministry, Father Jack ministered in parishes in North Bay at Holy Name and St. Peter’s churches, in Garson at St. John the Evangelist, in Sault Ste. Marie at Blessed Sacrament and St. Veronica’s parishes, in La Union, Zacapa Guatemala where he served for several years with the diocesan missionary team, and in Elliott Lake at Our Lady of Fatima parish. Following his retirement from active ministry Father Jack enjoyed being associated with St Gregory’s Parish. In his last years Father Jack loved being a part of Holy Family Parish as a Retired Pastoral Assistant. Father Jack always took an interest in his brother priests and cherished his friendship with Father Bogaslaw Jaroszek and enjoyed their two trips to Poland immensely. Friends and family may call at Holy Family Parish (208 Prentice) from 6:00-9:00pm on Monday July 1, 2019 for visitation. Prayer Service at 7:30pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday July 2, 2019 with Bishop Marcel Damphousse officiating. Internment in the Priests’ Plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Father David’s family would like to thank Dr. M Culina, Pathways Retirement Home staff, LHIN, and all health care and personal support workers, the doctors and nurses of the Sault Hospital and the many friends and family who have brought Father Jack comfort in his final days.
