Zlahtic, Paula (Kocjancic)

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 17th, 2019 at the age of 90 at the Trillium Health Partners, Mississauga Hospital. Beloved wife of Anton “Tony” Zlahtic predeceased in 2012. Loving mother of Mary Ann (Michael), Helen (Bernie), Anthony (Patricia) and David (Carrie). Cherished grandmother of Christopher (Amelia), Alexander, Chloe, Zach, Jessica (Adam), Lara, Keira and Erin. Dear sister of Marica Kocjancic and Joseph Maglica both predeceased. Paula immigrated to Canada in the early ‘50s and moved to Sudbury after marrying Tony in 1954. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League at St. Patrick’s Church for over 40 years. Paula was very active in the Slovenian Community and spent countless hours baking for their many events. She had varied interests – knitting, sewing, baking, gardening and Balina (bocce). Paula valued family above everything and until the end her eyes lit up when she saw her grandchildren. Thank you to the hospital staff of the Respiratory Wing at Trillium Health Partners, Mississauga Hospital for their excellent care and kindness. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church on Monday, June 24th, 2019 at 10am followed by a Reception in the Church Hall. (739 Brown’s Line, Etobicoke, ON). In lieu of flowers, donations to Dom Lipa Retirement and Long Term Care Facility would be appreciated (domlipa.ca) Memorial Visitation at the Lougheed Funeral Home (252 Regent St., Sudbury, ON) on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. followed by prayers in the chapel.
