Robert Leonard Sabourin of Sudbury, Ontario passed away on June 12th, 2019, surrounded by his loving family in his 80th year. Bob was the kindest, most giving, compassionate and generous man you could have the pleasure of knowing. Bob is survived by; his wife Julie Sabourin (Huhtala) of 30 years and his loving children, Leslie Menard (Don) and Lisa Teske (Tom) of Barrie, Ontario, Cyndy Paul (Glenn) of Sudbury and Al Fletcher (Jen) of Spanish. Bob is survived by his loving sister Leona Dawe (Norm-predeceased) and his nephew Robert Dawe. He is predeceased by his parents Saimi and Len Sabourin and sister Jeanine of Onaping, Ontario. Bob will be missed by his extended family; Deanna Miller, Landa Sweet (Sergio) Ann O’Shell (Ron), Blaine Miller, Carole Fletcher and his “Brothers”, Bill Shaver and Ron Rhude as well as many other beloved family and friends. Papa Bob was a charismatic best friend with a special place in his soul for his grandchildren; Brock Menard, Matt Paul, Mitchell Menard (Madisyn), Shannon Teske, Sara Menard (Eric), Scott Teske (Stephanie), Gary Thaxter (Mel), Curt Deschamps (Katie) and Randy Deschamps who all loved him dearly. He was adored by his great grandchildren Kaylin, Colby, Carly, Tucker, Allie, Rowan, and Sawyer. Bob was gifted with a compelling charm and humility, touching the hearts of those who had the privilege of meeting him. His respect, charisma and humour would make any meeting memorable, always having the ability to make others feel cherished. Anywhere he went, he would run into someone he knew. Bob loved people and they loved him too. He was a hardworking and dedicated man, working proudly for 33 years as an electrician at Falconbridge Ltd. Later in life he used his knowledge to create safe environments in the Health & Safety field, both at Falconbridge and with his own company as a safety consultant. Bob had many passions that he held close, adoring his family pets and his sports. Having a talent for football, baseball, curling, and hockey, his passion was for golf. He frequented several local golf courses, and was an executive member at Lively Golf & Country Club. Bob will be remembered as a supportive coach, dedicated volunteer Firefighter and ambulance attendant in his hometown community of Onaping Falls, Ontario. The family would like to thank the staff of Pioneer Manor Scenic wing for the care and support they showed for Bob during his time there. The family would also like to say a special thank you to his roommate Chicco. In lieu of flowers the family would kindly request donations to the SPCA, Alzheimer’s Society, and/or a charity of your choice. In the true spirit of Papa Bob, he leaves us with so many memorable one-liners: “remember~Keep your head up and stick on the ice”, “It’s a long way from the heart” and “Shiny Side Up”. Bob’s final wishes were for everyone to be happy and to love one another. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 13 from 1-3 pm at Meadowbrook in Lively, Ont.
