In loving memory of John “Bruce” McComber, whose spirit left the physical world on June 9, 2019 at the age of 81. Born on December 14, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Mary (Deere) and John McComber. Bruce has joined his wife, his dear Linda (Gilbert) McComber after 20 years apart. Dear brother to Harold (predeceased), Dolores (predeceased), Dominic (predeceased), Cornelius (predeceased), Clairene, Beatrice, Jarvis (predeceased), Linda and Lana (predeceased). A loving father to Jim (Patty), Helen, Sylvia, Cicilia (Don), Amelia, Marina, Judy (predeceased) and Norbert. Bruce will be missed by many, including numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a residential school survivor, he was taken from his community in Kahnawake, QC to Spanish Residential School at the age of 7. After leaving Spanish, Bruce spent years working in various locations until he settled and began his career in Sudbury in 1965 at Inco as a crane operator, where he worked for 34 years. Bruce was a brilliant storyteller/historian, a proud athlete who took part in various sports including golf at Pine Grove and the Cedar Green men’s night. He had a love for family and friends like no other. He was a gentle, kind and caring man who will be remembered for his warm smile and beautiful singing voice that lit up any room he entered. He will be resting at 259 Taighwenini Trail Rd, Capreol, ON. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 11th at 7:00 PM. The family will be accepting visitors around the clock until the final service, taking place on Thursday, June 13th at 1:00 PM at the above mentioned location.
