Nardi, Raffaele

It is with great sadness that his family announces the passing of Raffaele Nardi, on May 19th, 2019, at the Maison McCulloch Hospice at the age of 87. “Raff” leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Angela (née Bruno). Also mourning his loss are his three cherished sons Roberto (Shawnda), Luciano (Camille) and Steven. Raff was the beloved nonno of his only grand-children, Luca and Samuel, who were lucky enough to have grown up with their nonno by their side. Their life is richer for having been loved and cared for by him. Raffaele, the son of Antonio and Adele Nardi was born in Carolei, Italy in 1932. He was the eldest of nine children. His siblings Maria (Frank Rotondini), Rosina (Luigi Pulice), Salvatore (Rosemarie), Eugenio (Maria), Mario (Rosetta), Vincenzo (Cinzia), Alfredo (Dusolina) and Ada (Sergio Gervasi) as well as his brother-in-law Sam Bruno and sisters-in-law Franca (Mario Ammirante) and Rosa Zanetti loved their big brother dearly. Raff will also be missed by his dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins, along with a close circle of loving friends. Raff worked at Inco for 30 years and retired in 1994, joining Angela at home. Upon retirement, he enjoyed tending to his famous garden, wine-making, cooking, bowling and playing briscola with his family and friends. He loved to travel and enjoyed dozens of trips to Cuba and Mexico over the years. Raff will be remembered by all who knew him for his love of family, incredible patience, selflessness, sweet smile and above all, tremendously kind spirit. Arrivederci, Raff. Noi te ameremo per sempre. The family will celebrate Raff’s life at a mass at Our Lady of Hope Church at 10:30 am on Friday, May 24th. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the Maison McCulloch Hospice, where Raff was treated with dignity and kindness until the very end.
