Van Horn, P. Marion 'Pat' (Patterson)

In fond memory of Marion Patricia “Pat” (Patterson) Van Horn. Who passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa, on May 9th 2019, at the age of 88. Daughter of D.A. and Lottie (Sloss) Patterson and sister of Doug (predeceased) Patterson and sister-in-law Fern of Mindemoya, Manitoulin Island. Loving wife for 64 years of Marvin Van Horn (predeceased 2013). Affectionately known as Mother, Gramma, Great- Gramma, Aunt and Mrs. V to many in the Gatchell area. Pat grew up on Manitoulin Island but spent her married life in Sudbury where she raised her family. She touched many in her “Avon” years, at our store in Gatchell Van Horn’s Variety, and during her time working at Butik Scandinavia. She welcomed many into her home both relatives and friends for a holiday meal or a place to stay. All were welcomed with open arms. Mother’s house was always the “go to” place for special times or Sunday meals or just a place to chat. In her later life she enjoyed visits from her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren with a listening ear and words of wisdom. She spent her final 4 years at St. Joseph’s Villa where they doted on her and always commented on how cheerful and funny she was-a joy to care for. She is survived by her son Ivan (predeceased 1977), Janice of Calgary, son Greg (Betti) of Kitchener, son Jeff (Jeannette) of Val Therese, and daughter Marion of Sudbury. Grandchildren Erin (Susan) of Calgary, Jennifer of Sudbury, Julie (Patrick) of Calgary, Darryl (Kristin) of Kitchener, Tara of Kitchener, Charlie of Sudbury, Lana of Sudbury and Lee-Ann (Jonathon) of Val Therese. Great-Grandchildren Evan, Katie, Dio, Kaleb, Matty, Michael-Thom, Regan, Everleigh, Addison, Aryanna, Seth, Nathan, Malcom and special Gramma to Tony Hopkins. A special thank you to all the staff of St. Joseph’s Villa who made her everyday routine enjoyable and comfortable. An extra special thank you to Angela who took the time to curl her hair and give her those special touches to make her feel important.
