In loving memory of Claudio Pen, who passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26th, 2019 at the age of 68 years, with his three sons at his side. Born in Azzano Decimo, Italy, on February 3rd, 1951, Claudio immigrated to Canada with his mother Rina Udeschini in the summer of 1952. Claudio was well-known for his kind heart, dedication to his family, loyalty to his friends, and his passion for fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. Beloved husband of Vicki-Sue Pen (predeceased October 9, 2018). Loving father of his three sons, Adam Pen (Denise Berti), Aaron Pen, and Andrew Pen. Cherished grandfather of Adam’s sons Jayden and Max. Also left behind are Claudio’s mother, Rina Udeschini (Ennio Udeschini predeceased 2015) and cherished son in law of Glen Macartney. In his younger years, Claudio was known for his superb basketball skills, but he also enjoyed playing football, baseball, and tennis. What Claudio enjoyed the most was the outdoors. Claudio was a Correctional Officer for 30+ years at Cecil Facer Youth Center. Claudio had a great group of friends including Joe Deganuto, Joe and Charlie More, Sandy and Joe Macdonald, Art Potvin, Len Miller, Jim Leslie, Terry Zinger, Tom Bailey, Berk Keaney, John Desotti, Charlie Restoule, Miles, Sean, Kilby Murdoch, Gary Bouchard, Denis Castellan, Walter Mozak, Peter Macdonald, and many more, with whom he had a yearly traditional trip, fishing up the river. Claudio enjoyed his many trips up to Elizabeth Lake with his sons and with his childhood friend Robert Gimpoli. Claudio will be missed by his brothers in law Scott and Stuart Macartney and his nieces Katie and Natalie. He will be fondly remembered by his Zio and Zia, Giovanni and Loretta Zavattin, and his cousins Deanna Tortollo and Eddie Zavattin, as well as his aunts and uncles in Italy. Special thanks to the nursing staff on the 5th floor at HSN for making his stay as comfortable as possible and to Dr. Ravi Singh. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
