Tuominen, A. Nancy

It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy Annikki Tuominen announces her passing on April 15th, 2019 in her 79th year. The daughter of the late Matti and Laina Tuominen of South Porcupine, Ontario. She was the loving sister of twin brother Edwin (late Noreen) and Elmer (Chris) and the cousin of Paul Bertils and Ruth. She was the special aunt to Liisa, Noreen and Darcy and a number of grand nephews. She will be missed by many long-standing friends. Nancy was proud of her Finnish heritage which she honoured all of her life but especially during the many years she lived at Finlandia. Nancy’s generosity and kindness were appreciated by all those she called friends and the many students that passed through her classes in her teaching career in Timmins and Sudbury. An avid sports participant and fan, Nancy contributed to others both in her career as a teacher and coach and by providing funding to encourage others along the way. Nancy was a courageous woman who faced her health problems without complaints or bitterness. She was an example to all of us on how to deal with adversity. We the family she loved and who loved her were blessed by having Nancy in our lives. Rest in Peace our dear relative and friend. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Memorial Service on Thursday April 18th, 2019 in the Chapel at Finlandia Village 233 Fourth Ave., Sudbury At 11:00 A.M. With a reception to follow. Her ashes will be interred beside her parents in the Timmins Cemetery at a later date.
