Thompson, M. Rhona (O'Gorman)

A kind and gentle soul, Mom died peacefully in the caring arms of her daughter on March 15th, 2019. She was 87. A devout catholic, her deep faith in God was reflected in everything she did and everyone she loved. Loving wife for 66 years to John Thompson, predeceased. Devoted mother of Michael (Laura), Jim (Raye), Patrick (Vicky), Wendy (Rheal Mallais), and Robert. Predeceased by son-in-law Kevin Rivers. Nana to grandchildren Erica, Chrystal (Paul Prosperi), Tabitha (Eric McFarland), Jason (Amber), John, Sarah (Joel Quinn) and Jordan (Kait). Great grandmother to Clairece, John, Julia, Evelyn, Franklin, twins Liam and Lincoln, and Wesley. Granddaughters Tiffany and Torry are predeceased. Rhona was the daughter of William and Josephine O’Gorman, predeceased. Older sister to Daniel O’Gorman and Patricia Connolly. Predeceased are brothers Allan and Gordon, and sister Joan Arthur. She was also dear friend and cousin to Betty Turnbull. In addition to her love of family, Mom’s faith was also evident in her artistic talents. She was a former barbershop singer with the Sudbury Deltones quartet and later, self-published two books of poetry. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the “Cedar Wing” at Pioneer Manor, Sudbury for the care and affection they showed Mom this past year. A funeral mass and reception will be held at St. Patrick’s Parish, where Mom was a founding parishioner, on Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at 10am. In her memory, donations to the Inner City Home of Sudbury would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
