It is with heavy hearts, family shares the difficult news of the passing of Luigina Battiston. She peacefully passed away on March 11th, 2019 at the age of 77 years, surrounded by her loving family. After many years, Luigina can now be united with her loving husband Achille. Loving Mother to Michael (Tracy), Maria Schroeder (Terry), Sue, Juliana (Mario). Cherished Nonna to her precious grandchildren Sara (Brandon) and Lyndsey (Tyler). Luigina will be missed by many family and long time friends (especially the Danforth Gang) here in Sudbury, Toronto and Italy. Luigina always had a way to say or do the right thing for others. She faced many challenges and difficulties over the years but placed her faith and confidence in the Lord, which sustained her. She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. Luigina loved life and the people around her; she exuded kindness and compassion and always thought of others before herself, she found it difficult to be at the receiving end, it was just her way. She enjoyed spending time with her countless friend’s playing cards, celebrating birthdays or any other good reason to get together. She was a social butterfly and was the glue of her family. Our bond will never falter because of her, she made everyone she met feel at home and to everyone she was their Nonna too. On her last moments Nonna wanted to thank everyone for all their prayers and well wishes with a party. Let us fulfill her last request by celebrating her life together. Donations to the charity of choice in her Honor would be welcome. Memorial Funeral Mass in St. Andrew the Apostle Church 1250 Barrydowne Road, Sudbury Saturday, March 16th, 2019 at 10am. Cremation with entombment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery. (Friends may gather at the church after 9:30am Saturday). Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
