In Loving Memory of Giorgio Certossi (September 11, 1932 – March 10, 2019). Died peacefully with his wife Nella by his side, at St. Gabriel’s Villa. Giorgio was born in Treviso, Italy, and came to Canada in November 1951. Beloved husband of 60 years to Nella (nee Daru). Wonderful father of Susan Girard (Bernie), Alberto (Marisa predeceased), and Stephen (Jennifer). Cherished Nonno of Jonah and Dylan, and step-Nonno of Marc & Lynne Girard, and step-Bisnonno of Hailie and Zachary Snider and Michael Girard. Most attentive son of Amelia (nee Silvestri) and Angelo Certossi (both predeceased) and devoted stepson of Francesco Andreatta (predeceased). Predeceased by his siblings Mirella Merotto (Aldo predeceased), Carlo (Yolanda), and Mario (Della predeceased). Survived by his sisters Anna Sgarbossa (Ernesto predeceased) and Bruna Filippetto (Antoine). Beloved son-in-law of Gisella (nee Tomini) and Enrico Daru (both predeceased). Dear brother-in-law to Lucy Parisotto (Pasquale) both predeceased and Erminio Daru predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada, and his aunts and cousins in Italy. Giorgio was employed at INCO for 36 years as a labourer and then a shift-supervisor. He was an excellent employee and was very well-respected by his co-workers. After retirement, his hobbies were his family, cooking, gardening, and wine-making. Nothing gave him more pleasure than preparing a delicious meal for his family and friends. Giorgio loved music (especially opera), and he loved being a member of the Caruso Club Choir. Giorgio enjoyed travelling but he especially enjoyed his two trips to Italy to visit his family. He will be missed by all who knew him. Donations to St. Gabriel’s Villa (St. Joseph’s Foundation) or St. Alexander’s Parish Building Fund would be appreciated.
