Born in Venegazzu, Treviso, Italy, Loris died at his Ottawa home Thursday March 7, 2019; attended to by his children and the caring nursing staff at Fairfield Manor. He is predeceased by his brother (Severino) and sister (Dora) and survived by his children Victor, Renzo (Carole Anne Piccinin), Elena, and Martin (Hiyam Jibry) and grandchildren, Sarra, Isabella, Matteo, and Cesare. Loris emigrated to Canada and built a family, a home-building and property-development business, and a life in Sudbury, Ontario where he spent over 50 years of his life. He played calcio (soccer to non-Italians) as a young man and continued to in Sudbury before his family and business interests took over. Having married Marisa Martin (div. 1995) they raised their children with lots of time at the camp on Lake Nepawassi, and at the other camp in the bush (Manitoulin) and many adventures with family and friends. When not venturing outdoors, he put them to work - pulling nails, sorting/moving materials and sweeping up at construction sites in order to instill a work ethic that he embodied and which remains in his children today. These were the times that both he and his children fondly remember and used to become the people that they now are. While he was able, his retirement involved many trips to Cuba, a favourite and repeated destination that he shared numerous times with his family as well. Otherwise he spent time at the Paudash camp or in hockey arenas watching his grandchildren perform and grow. We’ll miss you, Papa! A memorial service will be held in Sudbury, ON at a date to be announced. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home. For donations and messages of condolence, www.lougheed.org.
