Geauvreau, Norma (Petahtegoose)

In Loving Memory of Norma (Petahtegoose) Geauvreau 80 Years Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 at the Hospital, in Sudbury. Beloved wife of Jerome Dion. Loving mother of Merva predeceased (George), Alex (Darlene), Jim (Darla), Brad (Kelly), Kelly, Amy (Jules), David predeceased (Kym), and Tim (Tracey). Cherished grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dear daughter of Paul and Mary (Jarrett/Kinoshameg) Petahtegoose both predeceased. Sadly missed by many family and friends. Norma loved all her family. She would always have a pot of food on the stove, and share her words of wisdom, allowing her family to live to their true potential. Norma started as a Nurse’s Aide, she was instrumental in starting the union with CUPE in Long-Term Care homes, improving the lives of all the workers. She enjoyed working at Lougheeds and then was proud to go back to school and get her degree from Cambrian College and Laurentian University. Norma served as an effective Elder and counsellor at the Grand Valley Institution for Women. She was proud of her heritage and her band, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek. Funeral Service in the Lougheed Funeral Home 252 Regent Street at Hazel Street, Sudbury Friday, March 1st, 2019 at 11:30am. (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9pm Thursday or after 10:30am Friday). Interment in the Reserve Cemetery. Donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
