It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Zachary William McKillop, on Wednesday, January 30th, on his 28th birthday. Raised in Garson, he attended Robert Jack Public School, Northeastern elementary school and LaSalle Secondary. He graduated from Carleton University with degrees in Math and Computer Sciences. He went on to Flight Training School in Sault Ste. Marie, achieving his goal to become a commercial pilot. Zach was proud to be chosen to participate in the Olympic Torch Run in Sudbury, for the 2010 Winter Games. He embraced life in the far north, enjoying snowshoeing, hiking, camping and kayaking, but most of all he loved flying. As a child he was this sweet, gentle boy and as an adult he turned into this charismatic, adventurous man. Beloved son of Janice (nee Joyce) McKillop (Mark) of Sudbury and Michael McKillop (predeceased 2010). Cherished big brother of Lindsay (Jordan) St. Catharines. Treasured grandson of Dorothy (nee Baby) McKillop (Dave predeceased) and George and Arlene (nee Condie) Joyce. He will be sadly missed by uncles and aunts, Mark (Pauline) and Paul (Linda) McKillop, Cameron and Fran Joyce, Cambridge, and cousins Andrew, Kevin, and Heather McKillop, Rebecca Hamill (Curtis), Tracy Joyce (Adam) and Justin Joyce. Zach was employed by Air Tindi, North West Territories, and was co-piloting a charter plane that crashed after leaving Yellowknife airport. Donations can be made to the ‘Memorial for Zach McKillop’ GoFundMe campaign started by Zach’s friends. A portion of the funds will be used for bursaries for students in the School of Aviation at Sault College. https://www.gofundme.com/memorial-for-zach-mckillop He will be forever missed by his family and many friends.
