Peacefully, at her son’s Hamilton home, Souad Kain passed away on December 7, 2018. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Predeceased by her husband, George (2011) and her son Thomas (2018). Cherished mother of Lawrence and his wife, Jennifer of Hamilton, and Tom’s partner, Marianna of Toronto. Loving Tata of three grandchildren who were the joys of her life, John, Serena, and Magnus. A loving and generous grandmother, busy knitting sweaters, hats, etc., baking dozens of “Tata cookies”, and was well known for slipping her grandchildren chocolate bars and “Tata money”. She conquered many challenges in her life, but her heart was truly broken by the sudden death of her first-born son, Tom. Also left to mourn are numerous extended family in Sudbury, Toronto, Syria, Lebanon (the country of her birth), and George’s family in England. Many thanks to hospital staff, the LHINs, community support workers, and family physicians and their staff in both the communities of Sudbury and Hamilton, who’s care and compassion allowed Souad to live as independently as possible; and in the last weeks of her life, with dignity and peace. Also, the Sudbury friends and neighbors who were our eyes and ears when we weren’t able. Finally, our workplaces, especially Mohawk Medbuy Corporation. With their understanding and patience, Lawrence was able to devote as much time as possible to care for his mother. A long-time resident of Sudbury, Souad wished many times to return to “my town”. Her family will be honoured to fulfill her desire to return to the place she loved. Donations in Souad’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
