Cipriani, N. Nancy (Hongell)

January 13, 2019 65

Passed away peacefully at the age of 65 years surrounded by her loving family at Pembroke Regional Hospital. Beloved partner and best friend to Roy Selle of Golden Lake. Forever loved by her three children Cathrine of Port Dover, Celena (Larry) Thrush of Coniston, and Paul Jr. (Séline Forget) of Sudbury. Nancy is the daughter of Hepatica and the late John (Art) Hongell and is survived by her sister Irene (Henry) Fabianiak; as well as her two grandchildren Ethan Issac Thrush and Izabelle Michelle Malette. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, and her fur baby Rosie. Nancy was a real homebody at heart who lived life by enjoying all the simple pleasures that most people take for granted like country drives through the Golden Lake area with Roy in the midst of the autumn colours; “treasure” hunting in Antique Shops with her sister Irene for hours on end; stopping by the local Legion for a night of dinner and dancing all for the low-low price of $25 per couple; meteor shower and star gazing until the wee hours of the morning; then waking to watch the grey jays and hummingbirds in her feeders and herds of deer grazing right outside her living room window. And yes, sometimes she would fit this in all in one day! Fondly remembered for her fantastic butter tarts that were never too runny nor too sweet -just a magic recipe that was often imitated but never duplicated because it was made with love. Nancy was filled with tremendous amounts of compassion and empathy for all creatures big and small, and many rescued and successfully mended animals like her pigeon “Birdie-Num-Num”, and “Stumpy” the two legged rabbit, had her to thank. Above all else, nothing brought her more joy and happiness than to have her children come home and be surrounded by her family, friends and neighbours whether for an impromptu sing-along or for just a cup of tea and a chat. Respecting Nancy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her Life will be held at Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 4 to 7:00 p.m., and then at Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 2 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, and those wishing to donate in memory of Nancy, please consider the Wild At Heart Wildlife Rescue (Lively, Ontario) or Royal Canadian Legion Branch 353 (Eganville, Ontario).
