In loving memory of Joanne Elizabeth Fortin, 53 years, Tuesday, January 1st, 2019 at Bridgepoint Active Healthcare. Beloved spouse of Wendy of Toronto. Cherished daughter of Gary (predeceased) and Beth Fortin. Loving sister of Jack, Jim (Melonie), Tom, Louise, and Peter. Cherished aunt of Lee-Ann, Ryan, Terri, Tommy, Yousef, Romi, Dani, Nairn, Alyssa and great aunt of Vicki, Malina, Eliza, Layla and Heidi. From her role on the winning national ringette team in 1980, to her medal as a Junior Ranger for saving a life in 1984, her long career as an occupational therapist and leader in stroke rehabilitation best practices, and even as she spent the last years of her life contending with metastatic breast cancer, treatment and disability, Joanne moved through her life with Hope, generosity, compassion, curiosity, and playful humour. Joanne was an explorer who enjoyed taking on new challenges, meeting new people, trying new foods and seeking out special places. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her partner, and her dog Jetty, and especially, camping and hiking trips on the east coast. Joanne touched so many in Sudbury, where she grew up, North Bay where she started her career, and Toronto where she continued her work. She will always be alive in the hearts of so many.
