It is with heavy hearts that the family announces his death on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at the Maison McCulloch Hospice, Sudbury, at the age of 82. Léo was a caring, strong, family man with a heart of gold who was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a gifted conversationalist; always quick witted and loved to make people laugh. Léo was an avid fisherman, hunter and sports fan who loved watching the Leafs as well as his grandchildren. Léo enjoyed bowling, billiards, playing cards, whistling, dancing and cooking. He was predeceased by his parents, Clément and Rose (née Desbiens) and his beloved wife of 50 years, Jacqueline (née Tanguay), as well as the following siblings Armand, Bernadette, Annette, Lucien and Joseph. He is survived by his other siblings Yvonne, Cecile, Art, Henry and Françoise. Leo was the caring father of Suzanne Yanchuk (Brian) of Fairbank Lake, Nicole Cacciotti (Gus) of Sudbury and Monique Joyal (Ron) of Sudbury. He was very proud of his grandchildren: Robin, Miguel, Sarah, Alex, Manon, Caleb, Clara and Christian. Léo was born in Dalton, ON on May 12, 1936. He retired from INCO in 1989. The family wishes to express their thanks to everyone that cared for him this past year including the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers of Health Sciences North, St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre and the Maison McCulloch Hospice. As per Léo’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A Celebration of his Life will take place at a later date.
