In Loving Memory of Betty “Elizabeth” Belanger (Logan) 79 years Peacefully, Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, with loving family at her side. Beloved wife of Michel Belanger predeceased 2012. Loving mother of Jeanne predeceased, Lise Boisvert (Alain), and Monique Conway (Steve). Cherished grandmother of Roxanne, Christopher, Scott, David, and Sarah and great grandchildren.. Dear daughter of Sarah (Becker) Loverick and stepfather John Loverick both predeceased, and Bert Logan predeceased. Dear sister of Brenda Anderson (husband Bruce) and Freida Dickson (husband Robert). Sadly missed by many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins. Betty was born in Glen Afton Township, north of River Valley, on the Jerome Gold Mine site, on Emerald Lake. Moving to Sudbury, she attended St. Aloysius, St. Thomas, and Sudbury High schools. She was active with Christ the King church as a Girl Guide, in Junior and Senior Girls’ Choir, and the Sodality Youth Group. Betty took the Nursing Assistant Program at the Sudbury General Hospital and had worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She married Michel Yves Belanger in 1960 and they moved to Chelmsford, where they attended St. Alexander’s Parish. Betty was a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League, serving one term as recording secretary and one as corresponding secretary. Betty worked for the town of Rayside-Balfour from 1973 – 1993, and during the Rayside-Balfour Centennial in 1990, worked on the Marketing Committee and Historical Fashion Show. After moving to Lively and becoming a member of St. Pius X Parish, she and Michel worked during the Special Olympics in Sudbury in the summer of 1998. She was a TOPS member in Chelmsford, Azilda, and Lively, as well as participating in various choir and children’s groups. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9pm Tuesday and after 11am Wednesday) Funeral Service in the R. J. Barnard Chapel Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 at 12pm. Interment in the family plot at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
