Rosemarie Schumacher passed away on Saturday, October 27th after a very brief stay at Health Sciences North, at age 95. Our Mother led a long and full life, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She loved to cook, sew, do needlecraft, crocheting and knitting. Mom loved to garden and spent many hours outdoors each year making the yard beautiful and keeping the gardens “just so”. Always an animal lover, Mom’s most recent kitty is a spunky tabby named Benny, who already misses her. Travelling was also an important part of our Mother’s life, as she and our Dad made trips to Hawaii, Florida and Europe regularly. Our Mom was always an enthusiastic game player, and we all enjoyed many rounds of Rumoli, Rummykub and the German Mensch Argere Dich Nicht together. Our Mother was predeceased in 2011 by our Dad, Peter Schumacher. They had 3 children together, Helen (John), Ingrid (Cleave) and Fred (Joan), and among them, 6 grandchildren, Ingrid (Luke), Jenna, Tristan (Billy), Luke, Joseph and Liam. Also, survived by her brother Erhard Abresch and his wife Ursula. Family was a very important part of our Mother’s life, and she loved each of us fully and completely. She celebrated our accomplishments and comforted us during difficult times. While we’ll miss Mom greatly, we are happy in the knowledge that she didn’t linger in her final days of illness. Her exit was peaceful. There will not be a formal funeral (Mom’s request) but instead a graveside gathering for interment of her ashes, as she is put to rest alongside our Father. Please join us if you would like, Wednesday, October 31st at 10am, Valley East Cemetery, on Gravel Drive, Hanmer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sudbury and District Animal Centre (OSPCA). (Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home)
