Hietala, V. Aapo

In Loving Memory of Aapo Veli Hietala 89 years Friday, October 26th, 2018 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Annikki (Heinonen) Hietala predeceased 1998, and Lily (Cardinal) Hietala. Loving father of Hank, Riitta (Steve Blomme), Anne (Steve McJannet), and Tuula (Pierre Breton), step-children Nicole (Gord Leblanc), and Lise (Eddie Mann). Cherished grandfather of John, Matt, Chris, Layla, Paul, Riley, Kyla, and steps Chantal, Eric, and Cassandra. Special great grandfather to Farrah, Tessa, Skyler, and step Reina. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Finland and Sweden. Aapo was a skilled carpenter, working with the Carpenters’ Union for many years. He was a founder and proud member of the Finnish Male Choir. Aapo had a real passion for music and was a wonderful accordion player. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at his camp on Westree. He will be lovingly remembered for his love of people and his ability to bring fun into this world, especially with his grandchildren. At Aapo’s request, there will be no public visitation. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Alzheimer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
