Surrounded by his loving family and with the light of angels dancing around him, Tony De Cata passed away in Sudbury on Thursday, October 17th, 2018 at the age of 70 years. His bravery, courage and strength were amazing. Beloved husband of Christine (nee Canarsi) of Lively. Loving father of Matthew De Cata and Micheal De Cata (partner Shelby), both of Sudbury. Dear brother of Nancy Boucher (late husband Joe) of Sudbury. Cherished uncle of Ellis and Jessica of Sudbury and Josh of London. Tony was born in Italy on January 6th, 1948 to parents Lucia and Matteo De Cata, both predeceased. At the age of 9, he immigrated to Canada with his family. For over 30 years, Tony worked as an engineer for CP Rail. He was a man with a huge heart and would have been there in a minute to help anyone in need. His first love was always his family but his second love was golf. Tony enjoyed many years working at Pinegrove Golf where he made many friends and had lively conversations. In his spare time, he also enjoyed fishing and watching his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. A very special thank you to his golfing buddy Phil, nurse Terry and especially Dawn for all the compassion and support you showed our family while Tony was at home. Thank you to Dr. Tenhunen and all the staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial mass, to celebrate Tony’s life, will be held at St. Anthony’s Church on Mary Street in Sudbury on Monday, October 22nd, 2018 at 12 noon. A reception will follow at the Caruso Club (lower hall) where relatives and friends are invited to continue sharing their great memories of Tony. Donations to the Sudbury Hospice Foundation (by cheque please) would be greatly appreciated. Cremation arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North. (705) 470-7070
