Steven Myatt Thornton, born July 29th, 1955, passed away September 13th, 2018. Beloved son of William and Edna Thornton (both predeceased). Deeply missed by his loving wife and soulmate of 37 years Karen (Palomaki) Thornton, daughters Lindsay Thornton and Stacey Lessard, and son-in-law Jeremie Lessard (son he never had). Grandchildren Deanna, Sadie, Owen and Maryssa will also miss “grandpa”. Cherished brother of Linda Schoenijahn (predeceased) (husband Roy), Wendy Fortin (husband Lorne), Vince Thornton (predeceased)(Lise Jacob), Chris Thornton (predeceased) and Beth Shaw (husband Joe). Respectfully and fondly remembered by his in-laws, Veikko Palomaki, Brenda & Ken Lafleur, Debbie & Dennis Kaukolin, Susan & Brian Kalmbach and Larry Palomaki. Will be missed tremendously by 23 nieces and nephews, countless cousins, aunts and uncles, friends, and his fur friend Timber and feathered friend Swooper. Steve retired as an acid plant operator from Falconbridge/Xstrata in 2009 at 53 years of age which granted him time to enjoy his family and his hobbies including his god given talent on guitar, playing his renditions of so many songs which are close to our hearts. Steve was NOT a man of few words, and his technicolor memory brought his stories to life. He was a wonderful listener and always seemed to say the right thing to those going through difficult times as well as the good times. Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature, and his special place where he spent long periods of time in solitude reflecting on life. Steve is the last of a dying breed and has left a huge void in many lives that can never be filled. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
