Hanninen, T.M. Ethel (Hallikainen)

In loving memory of Ethel Tilly Manerva Hanninen (nee Hallikainen), July 13, 1927 – September 15, 2018 Wife and best friend of almost 55 years to the late Taisto Hanninen, whom she met when she was an infant. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Ethel was quiet and reserved, but loved the company of her family and friends. Survived by her sons Martin (friend Linda), Gary (wife Trish) of Espanola, Don (wife Vera) of Barrie, and daughter Gloria (husband Pat Barrett). Dear Mummu of Gregory (Becca), Davin (Aamanda), Ty (Courtney), Kelly, Chelsea, Paige, and four great grandchildren, Caden, Chase, Quinn, and Theo. Born in Chicago Mine, she was predeceased by her parents Hulda and Pekka Hallikainen and siblings Eini, Alfred, Arvo, Ida, Walter, Eino, William, Helmi, Selma, Harry, Lila, Reino, Tauno, Leo and Gertie. She was proud of her Finnish heritage and of Canada, an avid outdoorsperson, a lover of nature and animals, an excellent dancer, a generous person – but more importantly, a good person in all aspects of life. The family would like to thank Elsie Jacobson and Harry and Carole Halonen for their care and assistance when she was in Lively. Special thanks to the incredible staff at IOOF Home in Barrie and the personal support workers from Caring for Seniors for their assistance and affection given to her during her late years in Barrie. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call 5-8pm Wednesday and after 9am Thursday). Funeral Service in the R. J. Barnard Chapel Thursday, September 20th, 2018 at 10am. Interment in the family plot at the Civic Memorial Cemetery.
