In loving memory of George McNamara who passed away peacefully at the Maison McCulloch Hospice on Thursday, August 30th 2018, with loving family and friends at his side. He was born on May 5th, 1937 in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia to James and Catherine McNamara (stepson of Charles Habada). Beloved husband of 57 years to Sadie McNamara (nee March). Loving father of Edie Boyd (Dean), Lawrence (predeceased), Terry, and Wesley (friend Tammy). Cherished papa of Jeffrey, Jake, Alyson, and Samantha. Great-grandfather to Eli. Dear brother of Ellen Finucane, James McNamara, Tom McNamara, Marie MacIntosh, and Alan Howe (all predeceased). Survived by his two sisters-in-law, Shirley McNamara of Chilliwack B.C, and Mabel McNamara of Sudbury. George will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. He retired from INCO in 1998, and also served in the Canadian Armed Forces from January 1956 to January 1962 as a paratrooper. George had a love for swimming and watching hockey. The family would like to thank Dr. Lopez and Dr. Cano, as well as the nurses and dental team from the chemo room and Cancer Centre. Also a thank you to all the staff at the Hospice. As per George’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Maison McCulloch Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
