The family announces with great sorrow his passing in Sudbury, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the age of 80 years. Beloved husband of Lizette (née Harrison) Gascon of Hanmer. Son of the late Raoul “Sr” and the late Christina (née Soulières) Gascon. Loving father of Marc Gascon (Diane) of Orleans, Georges Gascon (Gisèle) and Ginette Theriault (Dan) both of Hanmer. Dear brother of Anna Lachance (late André), Fernand Gascon (Claudette), Jeanne D’arc Brière (Maurice) (late Gaston), Steve Gascon all of Hanmer, Raoul “Jr” Gascon (Jeannie), Rachelle Carrière (late Norm) and Carmen Lemieux (Don) all of Capreol. Predeceased by his siblings, Hector Gascon (late Claudette), Claude Gascon (Anne of Capreol), Roland Gascon and Réjean Gascon. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Chanelle Gascon (Kyler) of Sudbury, Steven Gascon, Georges Theriault (Victoria), Tiffanie Theriault all of Hanmer, Tanya Gascon of Orléans and by the apple in Roger’s eye, his great-grandson Lincoln. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Roger was a passionate man, a jack of all trades who loved helping his family and community. He loved to entertain family and friends while playing the fiddle, especially “Orange Blossom Special” which took considerable stamina. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree, council 5005, Hanmer and 4th degree, St-Jacques Assembly. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St-Jacques Church, Hanmer. Friends may gather after 10:30 a.m. Donations (by cheque) to the Neo Kids Foundation or to the Sam Bruno P.E.T. Scan Fund would be appreciated.
