Lukkarila, K. Mauri (Kali)

August 10, 2018

Died peacefully, beloved husband for 65 years, of Reta Lukkarila (Poulton). Survived by sons David and Tim (Jeanne), grandchildren Karen, Kimberley (Robert), Julie (Jeff), Taylor (Jeff) and great-grandchildren Isabelle and Alyssa. Also survived by sister Carol Ihander (Reijo) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Felix and Siiri Lukkarila. Mauri was born in Toronto, moving to Sudbury at a young age in the back of a fruit truck with his mother, to meet up with his father who had gained employment with INCO. He spent the rest of his life here. Mauri spent 40 years working for Bell Canada and played with many Sudbury bands. In retirement, he and Reta spent time travelling. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed Thursday afternoons with the big band at the Legion. He also enjoyed many hours gardening at the house on Long Lake. All in all, he had a good life. Many thanks to all the caregivers and first responders that assisted with his care over the last months. Special thanks to Danielle. At Mauri’s request there will be no visitation or service. Donations to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Lougheed Funeral Home.
