Mayo, C. Norma (Hildebrant)

Cherished memories keep you ever near. It is with heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of Norma Catherine (Kathleen) Mayo (nee Hildebrant), age 93, on Monday, June 18th, 2018. Born at O’Donnell, Ontario, on December 12th, 1924 to parents George and Catherine Hildebrant (nee Warrington). Predeceased by her husband Hubert (1994). Sister to Evelyn (Andy Kanerva), Geraldine (Harvey James), and brothers Robert and Allan (Lillian), all predeceased. Devoted and loving mother of Cyril, Lyle (Kim), Timothy (predeceased 2011), and Maureen McNaughton (Ron). Cherished grandmother to Erin Kathleen (Adam Yaworski) and great-grandmother to Marlowe Maizie. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Norma worked for a time in the General Office of INCO and in later years at the Taxation Data Centre. She loved spending time in her vegetable garden and also doing various crafts with her sister Geraldine. At Christmas, everyone in the family received a generous supply of homemade baking and knitted toques, socks, and sweaters. Norma also put her knitting skills to use to knit outfits for premature babies and squares for the Northern Cancer Centre. Fondly remembered as gentle and caring, Norma celebrated her faith and enjoyed the fellowship as a member of the congregation of the Church of the Ascension. We would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Manor and especially the staff of Lilac Mallard for their special care and compassion. The family would also like to thank the special friendship provided by Delores and Pauline and the many people who visited from the Church of the Ascension. Donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Church of the Ascension would be appreciated. Memorial Service in the Church of the Ascension 1476 Sparks Street, Sudbury Friday, June 29th, 2018 at 11am. (Friends may gather at the church after 10:00am Friday). Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Civic Memorial Cemetery.
